Hensley Leading hitters: Eady Beth Connally 2-3 with a 3B, Alisha Bridges 2-3, Avery Beason 2-2, 2RBI “We made better adjustments at the plate and hit the ball. We have a few players in the zone and we want them to stay there. We still have some things to work on as far as base running and some little things on defense. Overall, an improvement and we hope to keep learning from our mistakes and not look back.” Source: PrepCentralOnline
The Darlington Tigers mauled the Sonoraville Phoenix, 57-20, in the season opener for both teams. Darlington set the tone on the game’s very first play, as Tev’n Hamilton returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown with 11:45 left in the first quarter.
LP: Emily Pruitt: 7 innings 24 batters, 1K, 2 BB, 4H, 2E, 1 earned run WP: McBryan: 7 innings 28 batters, 6K’s, 2HP, 2BB, 1E Hitters: Berkley Potts 1 for 2, Double; Alisha Bridges 1 for 2 9 SHS runners left on base “We were given and had many opportunities to score; unfortunately no one was able to come through for us with these runners in scoring position. There are not a whole lot of teams that win a close game while leaving 9 runners on base. We continue to make little mistakes throughout the game. Our base runners are not getting the appropriate jumps off the bases and are not reacting when the ball is in play. Our defense made the routine plays today, but lacked the focus to effectively make tags on the bases and read the ball off the bat. We will continue to work hard and hopefully can learn from these mistakes in order to close the gap and string some wins together.” Jasper, GA
